Mexican billionaire emulates Tesla boss Elon Musk
After Elon Musk recently made a splash on Twitter by adding a bitcoin emoji to his profile description, Mexico’s third richest man is now following suit.
Ricardo Salinas Pliego is an entrepreneur and multi-billionaire from Mexico. On Twitter, Mexico’s third richest man added a “#Bitcoin” with accompanying emoji to his Twitter bio over the weekend. Salina’s enthusiasm for the cryptocurrency Profit Secret is no coincidence. Back in November last year, Salinas also revealed on Twitter that 10 per cent of his liquid portfolio was invested in Bitcoin. He said:
A lot of people ask me if I have bitcoins: Yes, I have 10 per cent of my liquid portfolio invested.

In pledging allegiance to bitcoin, Salinas is drawing level with Elon Musk on Twitter. The Tesla founder and richest person in the world recently presumably caused a pump in the Bitcoin exchange rate when he added #Bitcoin with accompanying Bitcoin emoji to his profile description on Twitter. However, Salinas is ahead of his American role model in that the Mexican is already invested in Bitcoin, while Musk’s rumour mill is still bubbling.
Elon Musk protects Dogecoin
While Musk’s first Bitcoin investment is eagerly awaited, the multi-billionaire is keeping spirits high on Twitter. There, the Tesla founder regularly posts memes about the fun currency “Dogecoin”. As a result, the price of the “Memecoin” continues to skyrocket. At the time of going to press, the price is at 0.0765 US dollars.

Just under a fortnight ago, the sudden rise in the price of Dogecoin caused a sensation. Shortly before, GameStop’s share price pumps were ubiquitous in the media due to r/wallstreetbets. Therefore, more than a few suspected that the same Reddit community could be behind the price explosion of Dogecoin. Elon Musk’s tweets are now doing the rest.
